Welcome to the library at the École Cleveland Elementary

Welcome to the Cleveland Library! Our libray has a large collection of both French and English books to enhance student learning and support curriculum. We are continuously adding new titles to the collection for students, staff and teachers to enjoy.

The Cleveland School library is open daily from 8:30 until 3:15. All classes visit the library once a week at a scheduled time. When a class misses their regular visit due to a Pro-D or holiday they hold onto their books until following week.

The Teacher-Librarian, Mme Vis, encourages students to meet the following expectations while visiting the Library:

⁃ Demonstrate respect for classmates, teachers, staff members, and Library materials
⁃ Enter and exit the library quietly and speak in a conversational tone
⁃ No food or drink in the library

Book checkouts practices:

-Books may be checked out for up to two weeks but occasionally longer if needed
-The maximum number of books depends on the grade level and any overdues
-Students in French Immersion are encouraged to take at least one French book upon every visit to the library
-There are no fines for overdue books, but we encourage parents of students who lose or damage a book to pay for the replacement cost when possible
-Books can be left in the return box inside the library next to the entrance whenever no longer needed
-Students should not lend books checked out under their name to other students as the student whose name appears in the checkout record remains responsible for the book

Cleveland Library is an inclusive space that welcomes all readers.  Should you have any questions please email mvis@sd44.ca
